rrrcharles49307 New Member United States 2 Posts	Posted 07/27/2006 9:13 pm Hi Everyone! I am new to this forum but am happy to meet you all. Has anyone heard of a doubling on the date (7) on a 1987 Lincoln Cent? Plus, it appears that the MM is a RPM. However, the D underneath shows silvery color. I believe I am also seeing doubling on the I in Liberty as well. Has anyone heard anything else concerning these errors for this particular year? I have enclosed a couple of pics. Please view them and tell me what you think the coin would be worth. It is in excellent shape with brilliant lustre. Thanks all! Irishraider Pillar of the Community United States 1454 Posts	Posted 07/27/2006 9:38 pm Hi rrrcharles. Welcome to the forums. From the pictures you posted it is going to be hard to see any doubling. You need a much closer picture to really see doubling and such. Looks like maybe your hand was shaking a little when you took the pics also. Does your camera have a macro mode? If it does this works much better and you can get closer pics of coins that way. Do you have any kind of a tripod perhaps also? This will take the shakes out. Report this Post to the Staff

Metalman Pillar of the Community United States 7123 Posts	Posted 07/28/2006 03:32 am Hi rrrcharles49307 What your seeing on your coin is not Die doubling,, I have cents that have as many as three images,, I believe it may be caused by Die chatter and is a form of Mechanical Doubling that is somewhat peculiar to the copper plated Zinc cents,the closest I have seen on the copper cents occur mainly on the last digit of the date,, similar to the poormans 55 cent. MM is from the same cause. I had some pics of a 1989 I will have to see if I can find them or take a few more,, the date has no less than three images.
