Does anyone collect lincoln memorial cents with just die cracks? Lately I've been going thru a large pile of memorial cents and come across cents with die cracks running from base of memorial to the rim. I know these are pretty common and not worth anything but they are still cool.
I am almost considering collecting a date set of them 1959-2008 if that is possible, hence the question, in other words does anyone else see this as a possibility. thanks, I'll post a photo or two once I get the camera back.
I think it's possible and I'm trying to do just that. I haven't specifically targeted only cracks on the memorial, though. If there is a crack anywhere on the coin it goes in the crack set. I am also trying to collect every year and mm of MAD's.
Collect what you like. It is very possible to collect a set of die cracks on the lower right of the memorial building to the rim,i have seen many.No monetary value but if you think it has a "cool" factor then by all means collect it. John1
I save the strongest die cracks, the most extreme Machine Doubling, lathe marks, grease filled examples and extreme die scratches into tubes for educational purposes. Someone may post a question about a coin, then I can search through the tube and find an example to photo and post an image of. I call them my educational file coins. They come in handy instead of trying to find another coin that matches a posters question.
