not to the downer of the group, but the story is a great one, but there were no pics. I know we have all said things in other threads about some amazing finds! ie. the 55 DDO. I truly do hope for the best in your situation. but now, since its going to ANACS, all we will see is a picture of a SVDB slabbed. so in other words, I'm just merely playing devils advocate on the SVDB's authenticity prior to the slabbing process. so if you see where I'm getting at, the pics we will eventually see will/or could be any old SVDB that was purchased.. again, I hate being the skeptic... and again, wish you the best and welcome to the forum!

Was at the bank to cash my check and came away with a 1976-D Eisenhower dollar variety 1 in pretty descent shape a MS-64 or 65, but that pales to your find! Hope everything goes your way at ANACS.

Hi again,
ANACS got the penny on the 19th and it is in the processing stage. If I find out it is a forgery, then I will destroy it. If it is an added "s", I will remove it and probably give it to someone.
The guy who last looked at it said he thought the "s" was real, well, real enough to spend the money for grading. He is the part-time grader I was talking about.
Also, It was kinda of weird how things happened before actually finding it. I guess I have an eye for old wheats. I started noticing a lot more wheats out of rolls than normal, like a trend( I usually don't even look at pennies). The day before the find, I saw a weak struck penny and looked closely at it. It was a 1918 (p). The next day in the afternoon, I cracked a roll open and later noticed a weak 1920 (p). That night, around 8:00 to 8:30, I was bored and looked through the change and saw this wheat staring at me, the 1909s- vdb. All 4 dealers in the area know what I found and another who is out of the area knows also. I would definitely give it back if it was stolen.
I will update you guys and gals as things happen. I didn't think of taking a picture, heck, I should have just scanned it on my computer.
P.S. The part-time grader mentioned something in particular about the "s" (a raised area? or maybe just the height relative to the 9's). He said the V.D.B. was as it should be.

Don't destroy it if it turns out to be fake! Forgery coins are of great interest to collectors as a whole. Please leave the coin as is and contact me.

I think this is another aluminum cent guy again! There was only 484,000 1909 S VDB's minted...millions of collectors and everyone seems to have one except me!

That's because believe it or not there are almost enough of them to go around to every Lincoln collector who wants one.

I don't have one, but then I've only allotted one cent in my budget for it. I guess I need to get a job at a gas station--that's the only place anyone finds them in circulation anymore!

This find sounds more "legitimate" than some of the others that have been posted...just vibes I'm getting, I believe the author and think he will follow through with a photo one way or another. 484,000 is quite a few, and the survival rate is pretty high for this coin. I found a 1909 vdb before in circulation... no s through unfortunately, and it's certainly conceivable that one could come from a stolen collection.
