I am anxious to see the pictures of this baby. I am still skeptical, but it's my nature to be that way. One amazing find if this is really a true case, got my fingers crossed this happens to me someday! =P

I have a feeling that this will be the real thing pretty much since the start. For it to happen to me, naw, I wouldn't believe it for a minute. For anyone else, why not?

I think this is another aluminum cent guy again! There was only 484,000 1909 S VDB's minted...millions of collectors and everyone seems to have one except me!
Hate to brag but I've got 10 of them.

Kriz70: Here is something to think about. Did you ask the owner or manager of that station if you could have that coin? If so did you ask in front of a witness? There have been insicents where someone finds something of value in a place that is owned by someone else and the property actually may belong to the owner. If you didn't ask for that coin, if I were you I would sort of keep this story a bit less popular.

Congrats!
You may wish to remove the pictures with your address however - you can never be too careful on the interwebs.

well all he would have to do is buy the coin for 1 penny from cash register, just karl. People do it all the time, even at banks the tellers can buy something if they like it. My teller buys morgans all the time that are turned in. Its not as if he found a ring or something that someone lost. He is completely ok at this point and has nothing to worry about

I would not leave my address on there. Best take it off quickly. I am glad I was not a Doubting Thomas. My hat is off to you for hanging around. QUICK! Get your address off. You don't have to prove that.

Hey, Kriz...that is fantastic. My suggestion is that you edit your post and take out the pictures containing your address.

GREAT! They are gone! Now again, congrats! It's all yours and you only owe the gas station 1 cent unless you already paid it back since that was all the 1909 S VDB was valued at the time of purchase. Knowledge is yours to know what to look for and you earned that. The person who used it did not work for the premium it has over 1 cent. That is the edge all our hard work in roll searching, looking in our change, and reading books and internet posts like this gives us and sometimes these are the dividends. I am glad for you and hope you keep it as it has quite an interesting story to go along with it too.

Quote: I wonder where all the nay-sayers are? Doesn't matter. Their mind is made up and you would never convince them otherwise. Who's to say the coin wasn't cracked and resubmitted? It would have helped to have pictures before sending it off. I wouldn't have been able to get pictures up quick enough if I found that! Regardless, we have to take the OP at "face value". What would there be to gain otherwise? Either way, it's a great story! Congrats Kriz70! No matter how you obtained it, it's a great coin!

nay sayer here, although I stand corrected after seeing those pics. I've been on the internet too long to trust what people say in message boards without any kind of proof or evidence.
