Did the seller have the coin listed as a broken planchet ? it is dark where the breaks? are so I cannot tell if the design overlaps the edges of it,, or tell what the surfaces look like? Just from the way they have a seperation between the affected areas and appear to be more one sided (affecting one side of the coin more than the other )makes me suspicious can you get pics of the edge of the coin showing the affected areas Rick Report this Post to the Staff

Metalman Pillar of the Community United States 7123 Posts	Posted 08/13/2006 2:00 pm Well techniquely I suppose that it is a broken planchet/coin but IMO the coin was damaged after minting. the missing pieces overlap the lettering ,not the other way around,, the lettering would overlap the break if the planchet had been broken before the minting process.
