No box or COA, but can't complain too much for the price...

Dna,

I believe the link you posted is from a "full set" broken up. There was "also" an article last year in which the writer / blogger was saying that based on the pricing of individual sets by "the US mint" that it would make sense to buy the full set. I "think" I saw it one of the sites that is blocked by CCF.

I only remembered about the article when you posted that link.

bryan1234 also where are you guys getting these #s from?

Mint Stats article
(scroll down to see the chart for Oct. 10)

2009 Six-Quarter Silver Proof Set = 295,600 as of Oct. 10th
(as of today, $26.10 in melt value!)

Indeed, I agree with Ceylon62 that the auctioned Set lens I linked to
is almost certainly from a broken Full Silver Proof Set.

Why would anyone buy a " Presidential dollar Set and Clad Quarter Set"
pair, when you can get the Full Clad Proof Set for $1.05 more?
(in 2009, the full Clad Set was five Cents more than the pair above!)

The Full Silver Set costs $8.05 more than a "Pres. Set plus Silver
Quarter Set" pair, but you get the Silver Dime and Half-Dollar that are
unique to the Full Silver Set. (bullion value on those two alone is $10.44 as of today,
adding extra support for Ceylon's opting for Full Sets.

legend: Time will validate this purchase. Soon.

A month and two days after you started this thread, in fact!

Today, silver passed the magic $27.60 point at which the Six-Quarter Set
was worth the $29.95 issue price in melt value alone.

The 2009 D.C./Territories Silver Proof Quarters Set sold out last month.

The Full 2009 Silver Proof Set ceased sale on June 30, 2010, as that was
the date set in the legislation for sales of new 2009 Cents to cease.
The Full 2009 Clad Proof Set also ceased sale that day.

At these spot prices, any old Whitman with the forty-eight 1946-1964
Roosevelt dimes is pulling its (3.47 Troy Oz. ASW) "weight".

legend made a great call. Silver Proof coins in a low-mintage Box/COA,
exceeding their issue price in melt value alone, in only a month.

There is around 25 melt in 5 quarters as of today but if you look around you can get it cheaper then the mint site. I'm hoping with the higher silver prices there will be less of these made and sold and hopefully the many 2010 silver quarters will gain value like the 1999 ones did
