My haul from Sept 15 through today. Went to my usual grocery this morning and nothing, but came back around 11:30 to get flu shots with my wife and found: 1934 cent, 1960D dime, 2000 2 pence and the chewed up Zincoln. The other coins were found during September and October and, yet again, many seem as if they never should have rejected. Salvation Army benefits again! First silver since April.

You can sometimes find coins on the floor underneath the front portion of a Coinstar machine but not very often. I've don't recall ever finding anything in the reject slot but have found two wheats and a pre-1965 quarter on the floor on separate occasionas. Occasionally someone will leave some really dirty ones on top of the machine.

When the machine is full, and also at other times, you can find coins in the upper hopper. Finds lately have been slim, but we average a silver dime every few months or so.

Only one clad dime by my wife until yesterday. I make a run to several stores about every other week to get things not available nearby or at a better price. I've probably checked the Coinstar at one of them at least twenty times before without finding a thing. This was yesterday's haul: It really pays to keep trying.

Never seen a Roosevelt rubbed smooth like that. So cool.

That Roosevelt worn through the cupronickel outer layers is cool.

I so want to go to the local Coinstars and tape signs over the reject bin saying "OUT OF ORDER" or something along those lines. Every time I see somebody putting money into the machine and retrieving money from the reject bin I cringe thinking what might be in there.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that gets impure thoughts about coin counting machines.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that gets impure thoughts about coin counting machines. LOL Welcome to the club. I only started with the machines a couple of years ago when I read about them here. So far no large silver, but my wife and I have found about ten silver dimes including four Mercs. The machine I most frequently check is right near the entrance to the store so I check it first thing and then shop. About six or seven times when checking out I notice someone dumping coins. Sometimes I go put my groceries in my car and come back in, sometimes I wait in ambush until the person is finished and sometimes I boldly walk up to them and ask to buy their rejects. But I never ever leave the store without making sure that reject bin is empty.

^What about door handles or the bars you hold on a bus? I hope those coins are coins that "should" be cleaned.

1) I own my car 2) in America we have automatic doors & free hand sanitizer at the entrance of stores 3) I clean them because the coin star I raided is closed to the Mexican boarder
