Unless it's seriously damaged $40 for a genuine 1875-CC half dollar in F-15 grade is a great price. If you buy it please post pictures!

Sounds good to me unless there are problems with the coin. $40 would be a low price if it's truly VF.

After further examination, looks like an F-12. I do not really know about american coin prices, so I quickly rushed to the borders book store across the street, opened a book with coin trends, saw that F-12 is $100 figured I could at least get $50 if I re-sold it, so I went back and bought it! Gonna post pictures in the morning.

Go for it. Red Book prices are way off for these. I picked one up in G-4 for $50 and the guy would not budge on the price. I would consider rebuying it from you if that is truly the grade and if it is not damaged.

Trust me, I know about book prices that's why I subtracted 50% of the book price

Not sure of the grade; I cannot tell how much of LIBERTY is actually visible on the shield (it is a photo and in my experience circulated coins always look better than their photos).

Let's say it is at best an F12, but probably VG8.

NumisMedia lists VG8 as $63.

That being said, I have to say that you got a good deal!
