I have completely read this thread today, and it has been most educational for this newbie. I have gained new respect for my king George nickels and nickels in general. I applaud everyone on their restraint from a combative and negative approach , to one of a true respectful and informative one, unlike what sometimes happens over in Nclt threads. I unfortunately don't have any 1932 coins, but several of the other 1930's era. I will now be looking carefully at all 1932 nickel auctions, armed with new found info. Thanks to everyone, this thread was a pleasure to read. Rox

Saw another specimen 1932 5-cent, it was also the Far 2. I will have a chance to see a couple more in the next few months, but I think preliminary conclusions can be drawn, given the limited population of the specimen strikes for that year....

From Nuphilex or anywhere else, no news, no discoveries of 5 cents 1932 for the variety Far 2 Did you think that this variety sleep on the desks of collectors and sellers, waithing after the trend's prices of CCN Meanwhile, I always hope to obtain new data for 5 cents 1932 to determine more firmly, in this topic, the trend of the variety Far 2

I am very surprised 1- I see on ebay, many rolls of 5 cents 1931 and 1933, but no roll of 5 cents 1932. 2- I have seen any 5 cents 1932 Far 2, certified by ICCS, on this site, on numicanada or on ebay. 3- This variety ( 5 cents 1932 Far 2 ) is listed, with prices, in the last TRENDS of CCN, but no offer on ebay I beleive more and more that this variety is rare. What did you think about this

Quote: 2- I have seen any 5 cents 1932 Far 2, certified by ICCS, on this site, on numicanada or on eBay ...and you won't. ICCS does not comment on varieties listed in Trends, they comment on varieties that make the front section of the Charlton Catalogue (I believe I have stated this previously). If you want another example, the 1957 bugtail 5-cent has been in Trends for a very long time, but Bill Cross does not put it in the Charlton (calling it a die chip instead). Thus, you don't see ICCS flips with 1957 5-cent coins with the 'Bugtail' comment...

@ SSP-Ottawa, With ICCS, I don't see, on ebay, any 5 cents 1932 Far 2, with or without Far 2. More, I don't see comments, by ICCS, on some varieties that are on the front section of the Charlton Catalogue. Maybe little interest by ICCS to promote errors and varieties.

Yes, and no, with some coins, you can pay extra for variety comments and Charlton numbers, but most dealers, who submit the bulk of the coins being graded, don't pay for this.
I cannot speak for Scott, but Brian has done a lot with varieties in Canadian coins, including publishing papers in the CN Journal on the 5-cent silver series.
I think it is simply a function of economics... and ICCS is in the business of certifying coins, not spending the time to identify varieties...

Canadian Beaver Hunter, thanks for your data and for your nice photo of your Far 2 With these data and others from numicanada, the TREND for the varieties Far 2 and Near 2 is now : 34/4352 = 0.78 % for the 5 cents 1932 Far 2.
4318/4352 = 99.22 % for the 5 cents 1932 Near 2 . Good luck to all collectors with your search of the varity Far 2 Why not

First post! I bought some George V nickels and through a bit of research I found this thread. I only have one example of a 1932 nickel but I believe it is a far 2. When I draw a line with a straight edge between the leaf tips the top of the 2 is below the line. I'm not sure how to post a picture.
