It was dark by the time this one popped out,I thought it was a battery(I didn't feel the bit on the end),so I dumped it in my junk pouch. When I got home I threw on the table the 78 cents, along with the fremantle football club belt buckle,(junk)that I had found and started to empty the trash.Thats when I noticed the lid.The whole thing was caked in muck so I gave it a clean and the floral pattern appeared.
So what do ya reckon it is?A lipstick tube?I cant get the lid of without breaking something.Theres no hallmarks etc that I can see.Well enough ranting here it is,

I'm glad I come across what thread.. I think I know what that is, or what that might be.
Oriental cultures has this tradition of putting small pieces of papers that has prayers written on them and either wearing them on person or hanging them on their houses, cars, etc.
It is called "Cevşen" or "Muska" in Turkish.
Most oriental and Muslim countries has this tradition. The most favorite prayer to be put inside a "Cevşen" is "Ayet-el-Kürsü".
Mostly travelers wear it for good fortune.
Below are some modern stock photos of what I am talking about.
The first one is in triangular shape. It's much more modern. Second one is also a modern-make but it is cylindrical.
Back in the 17th and 18th Centuries, all Cevşens were in cylindrical shape.
Cevşens are even more popular in Middle East and in Iran.
