2011-Kennedy-Half-Dollar-Bags-And-Rolls-Available-Feb-15
The following is a release from the US Mint

The United States Mint will begin accepting orders for bags and two-roll sets containing the 2011 Kennedy Half-Dollars at noon Eastern Time (ET) on February 15. The bags are priced at $134.95, and the two-roll sets are priced at $34.95.

The 200-coin bags contain equal quantities of circulating quality 2011 Kennedy Half-Dollars from the United States Mint facilities at Denver and Philadelphia. Each bag is marked with a "P" and "D," representing the mints of origin, and "$100," the value of its contents.

The two-roll sets contain 20 circulating quality coins per roll-one each from the United States Mint facilities at Denver and Philadelphia. The coins are wrapped in specially designed United States Mint paper coin wrap, which displays a "P" or "D" and "$10."

Orders for these options will be accepted at http://www.usmint.gov/catalog or at 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468). Hearing- and speech-impaired customers may order by calling 1-888-321-MINT (6468). A fee of $4.95 will be added to all domestic orders.

Note: To ensure that all members of the public have fair and equal access to United States Mint products, orders placed prior to the official on-sale date and time of February 15, 2011, noon ET shall not be deemed accepted by the United States Mint and will not be honored. For more information, please review the United States Mint's Frequently Asked Questions, Answer ID #175.

I wonder why the quarters went up so much more than the half dollars.

Now that we can all get our business strikes from Unciculated "NON-SATIN FINISH" yearly Sets like the old days.......we don't need to order these maybe ? .....

Just a thought for some who don't want to "have" to buy the roll sets.

I will, as usual, count on the coin dealers to buy these bags/rolls and sell the coins individually. I have no problem at all continuing to spending a few dollars each year for the pair I need.

I still have 3/4 of a bag left over from last year that I can't seem to give away, much less break even on.

I ended up dumping 4 rolls of the uglier ones for the roll searchers.

Less bag marks and such ilk, if one just busted them out of the Uncirc. Mint Sets though.....which many of us will be doing anyway for all of the other coins !

I will still continue to get the Native Dollar two roll Sets, though .....but that might just be it for the roll Sets for me.
I know that they're in the Mint Sets too, but I just REALLY like these, and wouldn't mind having a "roll" collection of them, AS WELL AS folders and albums containing them each year.

I know opinions vary.....but it is possible that the Kennedy half may be a "sleeper collection" for some distant time in the future. Wayyyyyy into the future. Maybe when my daughter is 63 years old ? .. ..(she's 6 years old now!)
And I don't think it'd be a bad thing to have "two roll Sets" of these from the NIFC year onwards.
The premium that the Mint charges for ANY two roll set is "robbery" basically, but, if ya want P & D roll Sets.....it is what it is right ?

Yeah, but remember, I usually collect from circulation so I expect such ilk!

But I get your point. Those that do build from mint sets have normal coins again.
