Wow, nice find. I'm not sure on it's worth, but considering that a degree rotation of +/- 5 degrees is acceptable, I'd say it would command some sort of a premium.

2 things: Can you post clearer pictures? It might be a reflection off of the quarter but somehow I'm seeing shadow images.
Also how is the 2nd picture so large after clicking on it? I've been wanting to do that for awhile now- And Welcome

South Carolina quarters are known for this error, and it is valuable. I do not know how vauable.

nismojones:

1. Why do clearer photos need to be posted? Can you not see the rotation represented?

2. Photos that get larger when you click on them...That's a browser setting.

I'm not sure Copper, but I do see the rotation clearly

Thanks too for the browser settings tip, Like I said I take some pictures that when I upload to the PC I can zoom in to make whatever coin the size of a large beach ball, but after I post it's much smaller. I'll play around with my settings and try to get it.

It just strikes me as 'odd', that's besides the rotation.

Nismojones -

Internet Explorer 8:

Click "TOOLS > INTERNET OPTIONS"

Click the "ADVANCED" tab.

Scroll down to "Multimedia".

Uncheck - "Enable Automatic Image Resizing"

Click "OK"

If you are using an older version of Internet Explorer - you shouldn't be. Download the new one from Microsoft.

The second image is about 6 times larger than the first. It's the forum software that adds in the JavaScript code to show the larger version in another window and that rescales the image in the main window.

What is going on at the reverse rim above "South Carolina"? Is that damage or perhaps evidence of a seam (from an alteration). I've found several Kennedy halves machined to simulate rotated die errors. They had visible seams around the reverse rims and the weights were too light. I'd examine this coin closely and check the weight. If rotated South Carolina quarters are valuable there is a motive for making a fake.

Jaobler I think is just a optical treat because the shadow on that area , seems the rim is ok I guess .

since there are two different states with Carolina in their name I changed the name of your topic to reflect which one you were talking about
