I found this one cent while roll hunting a few months back and decided to put it up for show...it has some type of doubling on 941 the c in cents and a little on the edges of the maple leaves. Sorry for the bad pics but I'm way outdated in close up photography. Also has some wierd but cool ripples like a woodgrain effect not shown in picture...sorry. Much scarcer than the Doubled 41 variety (it must be scarcer, I don't have that one yet). I'll check my books when I get home tonight, and see if yours has a Zoell number.

Found my first one on a 1962 1 Cent. Now I always look for these... never seen it on a 41. Will have to pull out all my 41's and take a look. Yours is very sharp.

Scarce?Wow! I was lucky my eyes caught this...I never found a double on this year either till now,I will have to post a picture of the full coin both sides when I get some good lighting,it is a circulated coin but still very good condition, perhaps I will make a thread with all the error pennies I found over the years as I have about 20 or so with various cool different errors. Thanks for identifying the DD!

A really nice Doubled Die... Looks like Zoell listed it as R64b.

I am new to Canadian coins also so it is really fun and interesting to see so many varieties and error coins on this forum. Thank you for posting. And congratulations on this fine find!

Is it Class IV, offset hub doubling? It looks straight north without rotation.
BTW: Very Nice Find!

Thanks for the responses!Very informative...I'll admit I need to learn more about doubling. Where can I get this zoell book that has this listed? Some days I look and look and find some errors but this one just popped out at me,very cool. I'll keep it in the collection for sure. Thanks Everyone!

Hans Zoell released a series of Catalogs back in the 1960's which were the first (and until Charlton's latest catalogs) serious attempt to define and catalog Canadian Coins into Major and Minor Varieties....If you can find the Fourth Major Variety Catalog, it provides Doubled Die, Date Digit Positioning, Repunch pictures etc. for all denominations.... Keep an eye on Used Book sites as they crop up there occasionally. The Minor Varieties (Wear stuff) are cataloged in his Third Minor Variety catalog and the follow on Fourth and Fifth which are additions to the Third...

Yes Timsumrall... that sure looks like a classic case of Class IV Offset Hub Doubling.. see also the offset on the Maple Leaves above the date. The whole Obverse does not exhibit it though.....
