Russia1981 Valued Member United States 150 Posts	Posted 04/25/2011 11:31 pm On one hand I don't know if it's an error-rays around central circle is uneven and looks like a damage, but I remember some zinc coinage of WW2, in occupied territories had holes in the center, so I wonder may be this damage related to mint? Mine is oxidized horribly and it is similar to yours only I have a 5 pfennig. I imagine these are equivalent to the 1 and 5 cent denominations. 100 pfennig = 1 Mark I think our coins might be worth a buck or two tops. It looks like a cast piece using some elements of the actual coin, and some stamping over the 1. My '43 B below is for comparison. Yes, they were made of zinc, critical war-metal shortage thing. Check out Krause # 97.2, you'll see what I mean. The "blob" on the reverse, should have a 1 only in the middle, with the lettering at the rim. The whole coin looks rather mushy, huh? The Eagle is sort of close for the Zinc issue, but see what I mean for the reverse? It looks as if someone stamped some design over the one.
