So my dad brought in a guy who knows about safes and he took a look at it. He said it was worth $800 retail value. Sooo he did a little looking around and after he was comfortable the appraiser was telling the truth he sold it to him for $500 as long as he moved it. LOL the guy agreed!

I'll post some more pictures later. We have been busy with cleaning and such, I still havent went through a lot of the coins.

We were showing this same appraiser what we found inside, he was pretty taken back. He was looking through the silver dollars and he came across a 1920 canadian 50 cent piece and offered $25 for it. I really had no idea if that was good or bad..It seemed like a good offer but I said no...4 now anyways.

Soo Soooooo much more to go through! Searching information on these coins is going to take a very long time considering there is hundreds upon hundreds of them. Nothing that a bottle of wine and a nice quiet night wont take care of right? right!

Hi, crystalH...I'm glad to see you taking your time about your collection.

Purchase a Charlton catalogue and it will give you some idea what your coins are worth.

The most fun thing about coin collecting to me is looking at coins through a jewelers loop. You would be amazed what you see.
The next is comparing what you see to the book. As soon as you learn something you can't stop. It's on to the next coin. I need more books.
Oh , I need more coins.

Darn, I didn't read the part about the gold but that is like $13.5K right there. And yes I would sell it all if you are not a collector, cash in and treat yourself to an awesome vacation or something like that.

I usually speak the way I feel but if people take offense to the word "damn" I will not post it after this. I am just use to boards that allow a few curse words.
