there are sites online selling a 1970-D Kennedy half for $17-20 US, but I can only imagine how much shipping would be.

Quote: Nickelplus: Hmm Kennedys. I am trying to put a set of Kennedy 50c right now, but it must be 10 times harder in Egypt. Congrats. What inspired you? I joined CCF in 2006, when I was searching for a source about coin collecting. I didnt have any US coins in my collection more than 4 Lincoln cents and Washington quarter. All of my collection was mainly Egyptian coins. Through posting I made some friends from US and one of them sent me some Modern US coins. Just a single example of each coin. Some of these designs are very beautiful and I decided why not try to collect by date the easy sets. I posted a topic asking the members what they think is the easiest sets for me to collect by date while here in Egypt. I collected about 80% by date and then posted again asking which will be easy to complete by mint mark. Now I am about to complete The Jefferson's, Roosevelt's and State Quarters by date and mint mark. Hope to complete them one day and place them in their respective Dansco albums... that will be an achievement. I know that most of you see these sets are very easy especially in average or low grades ... but just remember that I live thousands of miles away

When I send a package to US, I use registered mail and the packing and shipment fees cost me a maximum of US $5. Sellers on ebay ask for around $20 to ship to Egypt I dont deal with ebay, I feel like most of the sellers are trying to take an extra dollar or two ... sometimes more... through their high shipment fees

I am happy for you to have made this milestone in your advancing collection. My Kennedy half album is incomplete as I gave up with clad coinage as a rule in the 1980's what are you date and mint needs for the Roosevelt dimes? I have many in my 90% stash and it would give me purpose to search to see if I had any you needed. I also have found a 1969 s circulated proof half would you be interested in that too?

Great set and a wonderful accomplishment from across the big pond! I can imagine the struggle it must have been to put this together from afar. I'll make you a deal that I hope you can't refuse ... I purchased an original 1970 US Mint Set at a coin show a few months ago ... hoping to score a 1970-S small date cent. Cost me about $20 if I remember correctly. The set contains all ten US mint circulation strikes from that date ... all in MS condition. It also includes your needed 1970-D Kennedy ... hate to see that one hole in your otherwise fabulous accomplishment. You should enjoy as well the other nine MS coins. Soooo ... to the deal ... I'll ship it to you gratis all costs paid by me ... can't see how you can refuse that offer. Send me a PM with whatever information I'll need to get a package from the USA to your address in Egypt ... and it will be on the way. The only condition I place on the deal is that you show another photo of your great set with that 70-D hole filled. David Edit here ... Quote: but offcourse I will not open a mint set to do that If you take me up on my offer ... you are going to need the courage to cut these coins out of their sealed Mint Set.
Take a look at my other hobby ... http://www.jk-dk.art

How do you do that, as those two you mentioned are the main problems I always face to buy any coin online!

If you take me up on my offer ... you are going to need the courage to cut these coins out of their sealed Mint Set. nickelsearcher, first I would like to thank you for your generous offer. Second, you are killing me with this offer. These are the mint and roof sets I have managed to have; 2008P and D mint set 1970 proof set and a 2006 State Quarter proof set http://www.coincommunity.org/galler...p?album=1229and if you send this set to me I will be happy to add it to them, but it will be so not right to cut the Half dollar out of the mint set and ruin it. By doing this I will fill a hole in my collection and make another in the mint set. Please withdraw this condition. If you are going to send it, I will send you my Aunt address, she lives in Chicago... I think this will save money from shipment and any taxes I might pay here in Egypt besides avoiding that the set might get lost on its way. The only disadvantage is that she is coming to Egypt on October... so the set will not reach me before that. OR I could suggest another offer.... is that you cut the coin off the mint set and send me only the coin and by this, you will feel the guilt and I dont Anyway, thank you again for this generous offer..much appreciated

Congrats on finishing the JFKs from so very far away! That is a major accomplishment. I do not know how you plan to store these, but I want to share with you that I had a Kennedy folder just like yours that I wrapped in plastic wrap and stored for a few years. Evidently the cardboard in the folder retained some moisture b/c after some years in storage, when I took them out to look at them, the reverses of the coins had lost their luster.

There is no worry or problem in doing this. Anyways ... my original offer still stands ... I am willing to ship to you in Egypt (not your Aunt) an entire original 1970 USA Mint Set (10 MS coins total) in the original US Mint packaging so that you can fill that 1970-D Kennedy hole ... all at my cost and expense without a penny from your pocket. You will need to cut the coin out and place in your lovely album collection. Nothing asked for or needed in return ... except the photo of your 1970-D hole filled. David
