The coin shop had several Britannia's with dates ranging from 05-08. They wanted $47 each for them. What is the going premium on these coins? I see that the mintage is at 100,000 for each year.

I left with a 1996 Kookaburra in the mint holder for $42.

They looked pretty cool. I've been collecting 1oz bullion coins lately and have been trying to not pay more than $5 over spot. Should I go back and get them?

I would think so. Right now The Royal Mint sells the 2011 one for £44.99 earlier in the year, I bought mine for £30.00.

As a reference, here is what I paid in the UK for some of the past issues directly from the Royal MintL

2011 - £30
2010 - £19.95
2009 - £19.95
2008 - £16.95
2007 - £16.95

And right now an ounce of silver is: £22.27

Thanks for the information Ken. I'll going to go back tomorrow and see if I can pick several up.

$11 over spot, I think that is about as cheap as you're going to find them here in the States. In my area if you can get lucky and actually find one, they have an even stiffer premium.
