Personally I purchased one recently just because I liked the set. The different finishes I thought were awesome. Everything is only worth what somebody is willing to pay. If you would like to have it in your collection I say go for it. Look at the price it was released at and what it's going for now. Have fun!

It was selling in the $500 range after it was sold out in 2006 on ebay. Now it is closer to $300. It is an impressive set with the one of a kind reverse proof, a must have for the serious ASE collector.

I originally bought 40 sets from the Mint and had 39 graded by NGC. I have been selling them over the last two years and they have been doing very well. NGC 70 sets sell north of $1000 and the 69's just south of $400...

I've wanted this set for a few years now. Every time I plan to buy it, I whined up buying something else. I've placed a few $260 bids trying to catch a deal, but you figure the price has to go up on these. The reverse proof, and the burnished are worth the 300 to me. I'm always thinking of the dream situation. Win a raw set on ebay for around 260. Set looks good from pics seller provided, The butterflies in your stomach seem to make the wait so much longer. It arrives well packaged, you open it. Right away you notice the little oxygen masks on Liberty's faces, cause the grade on these are as high as can be. You spend as much time as you can with them until you have to send them out into the wild, a pilgrimage to the holy land,PCGS. . The whole time your packaging them. You can't help but to think of every possible thing that could go wrong. The wretched people of the world! You contain yourself, Then think to your self, My luck the truck or plane will crash with my coins on it. You snicker an evil snicker, then tape the box shut as if it were a home intruder you got the drop on. You can hear the muffled cries of I'll miss you coming from your babies inside. Away they go. This is the hardest time. Seems like 6 years went bye. You step through your front door, out of the corner of your eye you see a familiar package. Your so locked into the package you don't even hear your wife say hello honey, have a good day. Before you can look away, your hand flips the keys and instinctivly has the longest sharpest one sticking out, You puncture the tape, as careful as a heart surgeon, and just as if this were open heart surgery with one smooth glide, The contents are within view. You pull away the paper to unveil.. three little body bags. LOL Just kidding.... Three perfect 70's. Wouldn't that rock.

Well, the one thing that already went wrong is that it is an open set which means that only the RP will be graded as 20th Anniversary. The PF and MS will get a routine label and be no different from all the other oxygen wearing Liberties of 2006. Better off to keep them raw....

I am mainly interested in the burnished coin, but the reverse proof is so striking and the regular proof is always gorgeous........ Oh, heck I may as well bite the bullet and get the darn set. I kind of had a plan to stick with ASE's as only a bullion investment but this is an interesting set with its numismatic value intersecting the bullion. That's the problem with ASE's. They really grow on you. The only thing I'm torn about is this being a numismatic purchase. I would never get back what I put into the set but I do believe bullion ASE's will pay a tidy sum in profit if they would only get back down to a reasonable premium.

Foxwood nice call, Didn't think of that, to busy thinking up the story LOL. Anyone else feel like these sets are undervalued. I mean its the only reverse proof and the burnished numbers are almost / if just attractive. Think they did a great job with this set. At first I thought they could of done more with the MS. But having the regular issue to tie it all up makes sense to me now. I've got to get a set very soon. I don't know of another set with such variety in a single series, And then you figure if silver takes off like some are saying, these sets will soon follow. Making it a smart buy now rather then later. How far do you think silver will have to go before these sets start to increase as well.

I think they are still worth it for the beauty. Got mine with all the original mint packaging already graded and given the Anniversary designation. $280 in April 2009. So, yea, they're going up. The 3 coin silver set was only 248,875 sets.

How many ASE completists? 100,000? 10,000? 100?
