I nearly got two one-ounce gold Buffaloes for the price of one.
The dealer had brought out two for me to look at and laid them out on his velvet mat. I chose the 2006 pictured above because the other one, although it was mint-sealed, had a couple of horizontal lines at brow level.
After I had paid, the salesman handed me a little envelope with my purchase inside. Before putting the envelope in my pocket, though, I peaked inside, as is my habit. The salesman had accidentally put the second Buffalo in there as well!
I said "whoa, wait!" and took the mint-sealed Buffalo out of the envelope and handed it to him. He responded rather abashedly and seemed a quite embarrassed. "Thank you very much!" he said.

Good man! Reflexively I hope I would've done the same, but I would much rather I was not tested with that type of temptation!

@Newmismatist Congrats on getting that beautiful Buffalo. Very honorable reaction that you had with the dealer!
Remember, many of us do not have access to shops that offer any sort of fair sales price on gold or silver. Here in Louisiana, I have to pay of dealer's fee of over $150 per 1 ounce of gold purchased in addition to taxes. As a result, maintaining a good relationship with your coin dealer is in your best interest!

I second the comments on your integrity. Excellent job. I think that we would all like to think that our code of behavior would stand up to such temptation but, as with many situations in life, we never know for sure until it happens to us. Glad to see that the challenge was met.

Some pick ups for the new year. The 1987, 2011 and 2012 are new editions. Need the Cougar yet, this is my second Grizzly. The one I picked up last year developed some milky spots on it . And a nice shiny Morgan Also finished off a roll of Mercs and War Nickels.

Didn't realize those Canadian halfs are 80 per centers. I might have to look for some. Here is a stock photo but I have a 78 in the safe, too lazy to get it out and photo it...

Quote: Here is my 5 gram JM bar... got it for spot Wow! You got a great deal! The premiums on JM bars are insane. I recently sold a JM 5 gram bar and I got $34 for it.

Yeah, the bars are going crazy. But not so much about the rounds made by JM or Englehard. Can somebody shed light on the matter?
