Well I logged into the usmint website yesterday at 11:45am...and gave up at 6:30pm. No set for me. I cant believe I wasted all that time and never got through on a web page or phone.....I am kinda ticked about that! How did I not get a set? I just wanted one for my collection and not five to flip.

Yesterday was what I expected for my first time ordering something at release from the Mint. I logged into the Mint website from my office (high speed internet) about 8 minutes before Noon EST and logged into my account, verified no mismatched addresses or any other issues, and just refreshed until the Add to Cart popped up. Using IE, it took me about 45 min to finally get my first order placed using the Quick checkout feature, and another 5-10 min to complete a second order.
A little patience, a bit of stress (panic mostly on my part, for no reason) and everything went basically how I would've predicted.

Got very lucky, and grabbed 5 sets...site crashed at 901 AM...took forever...got 4 sets, then, later, 1 last one, right before sellout.... Now, what to do with em...slab with PCGS, or, NGC, leave in unopened boxes, or, open hunting for errors... Calvin

So, how many of you plan to open the box and enjoy your purchase? Is there any possibility that each set will be individually sealed within the mint box? I only ordered two sets with the intention of eventually passing them on to my children, not turn a quick profit (although I now wish I had ordered the limit). I would at least like to be able to lay my eyes on one set, but fear doing so may destroy both sets ultimate value.
To see or not to see. That is the question.

Earle42 I know what your dealing with! I had the same thing happen to me twice. The first was a computer glitch, that deleted my order. Second was the operator "Nancy's" fault. Instead of updating my order she CANCELED the whole thing. I also spoke with a "Judy" who offered the same response, Hrs later of working on this ended up with, If someone sends back their set. They will forward it to me. I was outraged, I couldn't believe they conducted business like this. I swore them off until the PF & UNC SAE's started rolling out again. They told me their not responseable for computer glitches or human error. But if a set did come back I could have it for full price. (I asked being its being sent back can I have it at a discount) "NO" lol So my heart goes out to you my friend. I pray they've changed this policy, for its a huge let down after all the work!

I plan to open one so that I can have the pleasure of looking at and enjoying the coins and then leave the other fours sets unopened.

Judging from what I've read, the only "seal" will be the mint's original shipping packaging. Once that's broken...
Hope I'm wrong.

Well, since I'm not planning to send them in for grading, I guess it won't matter too much if they are not individually sealed...

Numismantic I'm opening all but 1. The one is for a quick profit. I'm normally not one to sell, But I'm so tapped out, I couldn't resist. At this time Paul Mary and Pete are all looking for me. So if you ever call, Mees a no speaka da englisha. JK! I've got to look at them! Its what its all about! I can see the attraction to sending in a sealed set. Its a complete surprise! But the house has all the odds on this one!

Everything I have seen says that only the entire order will be sealed by the mint and that is certainly the only thing that will have a "postmark" on it. That is why I placed five orders for one set each, only an extra $20 to have total flexibility. Most likely, I will end up keeping all five sets but for now, I will only open one to enjoy and just keep the rest in sealed, dated packaging.

The goverenment just made 30million on these sets....where is the money going too? Well all know its not going towards a new ordering software program for the mint....maybe they do spend 10million on new toliets.

Well, I guess that explains why so many people were placing separate orders instead of just ordering five at once. If you're right, that kind of stinks. But, as I said, I'm not planning to send any in for grading, so no real harm done I suppose...

I spoke to NGC yesterday about certification. They said the sets must be in the unopened mint shipping box because no additional wrappers will seal each set in a multiple set order. I asked if NGC would certify only a single set and return any additional sets uncertified. I was told currently NGC would certify every coin in every set found in the unopened mint shipping box.
