I am basing it on U.S. Mint prices for individual coins right off the usmint.gov site, not after the fact graded coins.

I think the price is right in line with the existing proof & uncirc pricing. The proof is $59 plus two uncircs at $51 plus one bullion at $40 (what it would probably go for in mint packaging) comes to $201. Add in a reverse proof at $79 (a not unreasonable price considering the added die complexity) and you are at $280, so that only leaves $20 for the package, totally in line with previous mint offerings. If you want to get bullion prices, buy bullion coins, not numismatic versions and especially not one off reverse proofs.

Good thing this set didn't hit the market last April... (and I thought the sets were going to be at least $329) I still think it should have been a four-coin set (without the bullion coin), but they didn't ask me...

I have not purchased from the mint in a spell, is your credit card info on the invoice/receipt inside the packaging? I have read alot of guys talking about sending in their original sealed boxes for TPG, which would mean their potental personal info in someone elses hands. Is this something to be concerned about?

Two answers in one post: Quote: I have not purchased from the mint in a spell, is your credit card info on the invoice/receipt inside the packaging? Negative...just your address, order number, price paid and return label Quote:
Any word on if NGC is going to do any special 5 coin holders for this? Nope...I just got a response from them stating: "As of January 1, 2011 NGC no longer offers the Multi-Holder."

The UPS (or FedEx) tracking number is also included on the receipt that is inside the mint package but the only information that adds for a prospective buyer is the dates which in at least some cases is a selling point.

How are the TPG's planning on grading these I wonder? I've read that they want them sent in mint-sealed boxes, but are they going to do a special holder, or are they somehow going to affix labels to the mint holder? I'm not at all interested in getting my sets graded, just curious.

Yes, the UPS tracking number in also on the packing list.
Main point is that you are shipping a sealed box to a grading company (or selling it to someone else who will ship it to be graded) that will have WAY more info about you on your submitted grading form... i.e. CC number, address, phone
What's inside the box is trivial....

What about shipping? If I recall the 1st 5oz. puck was shipped 3 day expedited even if you only paid the $4.95 1-2 week normal shipping, anyone remember that? I know I paid the $17.90 3 day expedited but people were saying they only paid $4.95 1-2 week for the regular shipping but their item was shipped the 3 day expedited, so does the mint automatically ship a high priced item expedited shipping even if you have chosen the $4.95 1-2 week shipping?

The Mint ships all purchases $300 or above UPS Next Day Air for the same $4.95. They were lenient with the $279.95 pucks and they will most likely ship the $299.95 (actually over $300 with the shipping) ASE sets the same way. I wouldn't pay extra for the expedited shipping...

Since they also ship the 1/10th ounce gold proof Eagle which sells for $215.50 via overnight express (all gold and platinum gets the free upgrade per FAQs) and since they appear to be continuing the same with the 5oz ATBs even with the price reduction, I am not going to pay any extra and am expecting the free upgrade for this set. The mint says that shipping does not enter into the $300 number but at 5 cents short they would only be inviting abuse if they don't overnight these on standard shipping. I do know that they will not refund the extra $12.95 even if you did not to pay it so my advice is don't give it to them.

I plan to buy as many sets as I can afford but one at a time to ensure that they are each individually mint sealed so that nickel still comes into play. I figure the extra $19.80 isn't too much to pay to allow the four extra sets (one is definitely a keeper) to sell one at a time if I decide to do that.
