Quote: Many of these will fall into strong hands this winter. I have an empty OGP box/COA just waiting for the slabbed 70 Set I'll buy after the holidays, just when the flippers will need extra cash to pay their holiday bills. Quote: Just seen a NGC PF/MS-69 set go for $681.00, and a set in OGP go for $630.00 69 Sets are already selling for barely more than OGP Sets do (and may drop to less-than-OGP value in the future!), which makes me feel much better about opening my Mint box and enjoying them as-is. I love the A25 OGP box, and I've already re-purposed one of my extra empty boxes for this Set.

I used NGC, opted for the ER label. We are at market saturation, with 1600 25th anniversary items eagle for sale at any given time on ebay. 3,2,3,4,1 what is that?, it would be nice to find someone to trade with to complete sets.

Quote: "This set has 2 keys with 100,000 total minted. Every flipper on the market is out there right now (aka weak hands). Expect 70 sets to return to $2K next year.
John Maben has been in this market for decades and agrees these sets are undervalued right now because thousands of flippers bought 5 sets and have to dump them at any price."
I have to agree with BH here. As time passes more and more of these sets are going to end up in "strong" hands, i.e. collectors who will hang onto them for long periods of time. Eventually I expect that even PF/MS69 sets will be worth upwards of $1200. I'm sending my set in to NGC, I have to wait until Jan. but I believe it'll be worth it.

Quote: As time passes more and more of these sets are going to end up in "strong" hands The best time to buy slabbed A25 Sets (either 69 or 70) will be in the first quarter of 2012, with lots of flippers eager to pay their holiday bills. It's during this period where the abundant 69 Sets could fall below open-box OGP Set prices on ebay. Quote: Eventually I expect that even PF/MS69 sets will be worth upwards of $1200. At which point OGP Sets may be worth even more, if they follow in the footsteps of the 2008 Gold Buffalo fractional coins. The problem with slabbing the Mint's best modern coins: "Everyone else" slabs them, too. (which is why I collect extra OGP!) Collector Eagles and Buffalos graded 69 are a "dime a dozen" (in terms of availability). Thanks to the astute design/designer(s) of the A25 blue box, I can buy a 70 Set and display it in an extra OGP box (simply by removing the five-hole capsule insert), creating the perfect combination of slabs and OGP.

I see by earlier posts that there are company's charging? for the ER or ES designation.
I can not believe any knowledgeable person would pay extra for that label and whats more, I am really confused about people paying more on the secondary market for these labels, when WE all know it is a promotional ploy, a scam, a false premise to evacuate people's pockets for more money, Things are certainly out of control, those feeding into the hype if knowledgeable, should be ashamed, WE are suppose to be the educated people using our knowledge to assist others who do NOT have a clue, and yet, I see plenty of people are playing into the hype..........

While what you say is true, the real value of anything is what someone else is willing to pay for it.

That is why I went with NGC, I couldn't see paying anything extra for an ER/FS label..

Quote: every graded set can become an "open-box OGP Set" very easily. Quite true at the present time, if you have extra empty OGP box/COA/capsules to put them in (which I do). Thousands of empty OGP boxes for A25 Sets have already been discarded, although many can still be found on ebay currently. There won't be so much empty A25 OGP packaging on the market five years from now. Which would make it more difficult to "recreate" an OGP Set by unslabbing 69-graded coins and re-packaging them in extra OGP.

I buy the First Strike From PCGS and Have 70 MS and PRDC Eagle for every year it has Existed. I like the Label and will not buy an Eagle without it. I also have all First strike State Quarters Clad and silver as well as National Parks to date I am in my late 60s and have been collecting for 50+ years and believe it is my choice alone what I collect

I agree only because they bring no more value to me personally. In the end I would be afraid you risk loosing more money. However why should I or anyone else care how someone wants to collect coins.
If people like them graded and labeled then so be it. It is how they choose to spend their own money to satisfy their personal way to collect.
There is a market for this type of collecting and I see nothing wrong with those that want to collect this way.

These forums are for comments, thoughts and ideas and not for critiques of someone's collecting preferences. Personally I think paying $90 extra per set just to have "First Strike" printed on a label is not the best use of my cash BUT I won't be critical of someone who will fork out the cash. I will add that having "Early Release" added to the NGC label at no cost was a no brainer with zero downside. Different situation altogether....
