I live on Cape Cod Massachusetts found it in a paper bank roll from my small bank Rockland Trust Company in Plymouth, Plymouth County Mass.I hear the other finds for the 1992p Close AM's were also found in The same basic area of the country,(sorry to tell you that). Best thing is my family wont think I'm crazy anymore looking through all the coins!
Rest in Peace

As a former MA person believe me and read what BadThad has to say and do it. He is one of the best. I love the Cape.

Another thing to consider, if you're planning on selling the coin, you should contact Ken Potter so you can become famous via Coin World. I'm pretty sure you'd make the front page, the publicity would be great and it would generate buyer interest if you tell him you're planning on selling it after grading.

There's a link to Ken's email in the article about the 2nd one found. I believe this is only the 3rd/4th one discovered.

Perhaps I'm too cautious, but I wouldn't divulge too much information on where you live, and especially your name. If published, it might generate the wrong kind of interest.

Again, congratulations! Collectors here enjoy cheering these milestone finds!

This definitely falls into the "this needs to reside in a safety deposit box until you figure out what you want to do with it" territory, IMO.

Am I right thinking that this is the third one known?

Looks like this is #5:

Quote:
July 14, 2010 -- CONECA member, BJ Neff reports that David Strzalkowski of Central Florida found a 1992 Lincoln Cent with a ' Close AM' reverse (sometimes referred to as the 'Reverse of 1993'). This is only the fourth example reported to us so far with the third known specimen grading NGC AU-55 and selling at the Bowers & Merena January 2010 Orlando Rarities Sale on January 5th for $4830. (Scroll down to see two more stories on this variety.)
The Strzalkowski specimen was encapsulated by PCGS at the summer F.U.N. show as AU-55. The full story can be found in Billy Crawford's August edition of Die Variety News, issue # 15. Congratulations to David on a very nice find!

bournepiper, if I may ask, what are your thoughts of what you'll do with this coin? Are you going to keep it, or have it graded then auctioned off? Just wondering.

Excellent find.

We all enjoy celebrating the occasional fun roll find ... and this 1992 CAM LWC certainly rises to that level and beyond.

Do whatever you wish with the coin ... but I humbly submit that BadThad advise given above (on multiple occasions) is sound and well worth considering.

No one has commented yet on the apparent verdigris on the coin ... wondering what the experts think about sending this to NCS for conservation?

Seems to me that placed in a PCGS slab 'as-is' it would just corrrode away.

Anyways ... thrilled for you and your great find!

David
