Hi all,

Here are two lower mintage Morgans that I picked up recently.

The 1891-CC has some discoloration to the reverse and the 1903-S has what I think are three small feathers stamped into the eagle.

I would think a kid did this but I may be mistaken. Has anyone seen this before?

Is it possible to ID which VAMs these are from the photos?

All the best,

Vinnie

1891-CC looks like a VAM 5, Not enough details to know what the 1903-s is, I suspect a 2nd olive reverse..

The marks on the back of the 1903-s are post mint damage...not an error

Thank you for your input aladinslamp, it is greatly appreciated.

I knew the reverse was post mint damage,it just seemed very odd to me.

Would better photos help confirm that the 1891 is a VAM 5?

Thank you again,

Vinnie

your coin is a near date, so that narrows it down to just 2 coins, VAM 4 and 5, of those 2, your mint mark matches VAM 5..
its the 1903-s that would need closer examination...
