2004 Roosevelt Dime - Copper? - Coin Community Forum

dawn76 New Member United States 3 Posts	Posted 10/13/2015 10:23 pm I noticed a dime I had that was almost copper colored. I just don't know what to make of it. I took a picture of it next to a normal colored Roosevelt dime. I've just never seen this before, any ideas? Thank you! Report this Post to the Staff

tweak800 Pillar of the Community United States 1249 Posts	Posted 10/13/2015 11:04 pm It looks a bit reddish. I see this a lot with nickels when Coin roll hunting . Looks to be some sort of toning not missing clad layer. Take a look at your rim can you see the 2 layers? Report this Post to the Staff

From what I remember when examining it, I could see the 2 clad layers when looking at the side of it, it had the ridges too. That's why I was sorta baffled at the color. Report this Post to the Staff

I'll add it to my collection since it looks cool I'm a total amateur at this, I just always keep my eye out for unusual looking coins and this definitely jumped out at me. It's a been a neat week for coins for me, the other day I also found a 1943 Washington quarter, I never seem to find the silver ones in circulation for obvious reasons :-) Report this Post to the Staff
