Jeremy123 Valued Member United States 76 Posts	Posted 01/16/2016 10:16 pm 1st Question: I notice a lot of good pictures on here that get into great detail and I was wondering where can I get one of those cameras or microscopes that everyone uses? I only have my IPhone and a small 16x loupe. I wanted to get everyone's opinion on getting a device that can show great details on what I find and help in identifying to show to everyone. Perhaps one under $80. 2nd Question: What's up with this penny it either looks digital or made of some wood? I took a few photos in different lighting. Report this Post to the Staff

I have an Ipad mini and I use a macro lens that I purchased from China for $4.00 and it works fine in my opinion... Part II: What you got there is commonly referred to as a "woody" ... meaning the toning on the coin has wood grain toning... some collectors really like that type of toning! With my poor eyesight it gets harder each day. I know how to tell a double die from machine but I want to be positive at what I'm looking at. tweak800 Pillar of the Community United States 1249 Posts	Posted 01/17/2016 01:02 am My pics are from a celestron USB microscope that was 30 bucks on ebay. Only thing is you have to find a way to diffuse light and I used an index card cut perfectly to fit and taped it the problem with that is when they are crappy old circulated coins I have to remove it cause then I need the light but on proofs and BU coins I don't need the light it is more of a hindrance. Also It has a little plastic shield that prevented me from getting my really close up pics so I got rid of it.. LOL yeah I used to use my phone and a 16x loupe and I could get okay pics but I would not go back to that now no way no how. Report this Post to the Staff
