I have an ANACS proof 70 ASE, the reverse of the holder is cracked deep through the center of the holder. Will ANACS reslab the coin? Or could I possibly send it to PCGS or NGC for a regrade.

I'll share my cracked slab story then try to give you some love.

I have a cracked PCGS ASE. Took it to the Baltimore Whitman show a couple of years ago to have it re-slabbed. The PCGS associates at their table were rude, impolite and ignored me while wanting to help others they were familiar with or had a quantity of submissions.

I walked away in disgust.

Here's the love.

I think all TPGs will re-slab for a small fee, usually about $10 bucks.

PCGS and NGC will grade it but they will not cross-over the ASE. ANACS will reslab it for (I believe) $10.

ANACS won't necessarily reholder the coin at the same grade, unless it is in one of their new yellow-label slabs. They don't guarantee that coins in earlier-generation slabs will meet their current grade standards.

They also may not reholder as a 70 because they may decide that the damaged holder, since the damage encompassed the coin, may have resulted in a reduction of grade.

If you like the grade have it re-slab by the same company. I guarantee if you send it to PCGS or NGC they will down grade it. Guaranteed.
