Quote: Does a depiction of Pegasus count? Pegasus was actually a real horse role-playing... It counts. Very nice!

Not one, but two horses hard at work on this silver shilling token of Rowfant, in Sussex, issued in 1811 by Henry Hunt, a gentleman sheep farmer. Dalton 14; Davis 13.

Here's the US Mark Twain commemorative silver dollar from 2016. At the right foreground of the obverse of the coin is presented a portrait of a "bushy" Mark Twain in the midst of enjoying his pipe - he is depicted looking straight at the observer with a bit of a grin or smirk on his face. He holds his still-lit pipe in his right hand as smoke rises from it; the smoke wafts up and to the left and forms a silhouette image of Huck Finn and Jim on their raft set against a full moon (they hid during the day!). The reverse of the coin presents assorted characters from the stories and books of Twain. The focus for this thread can be found at the top of the design, where the knight from the novel A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court is seen riding his horse while holding his lance during the big jousting tournament/competition. Also depicted is the frog from "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County" story and Huck and Jim once again from the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn book. For other of my posts on commemorative coins and medals, see: Read More: Commems Collection.
