Those prices seem to be extraordinarily high. What am I missing?

Quote: Those prices seem to be extraordinarily high. What am I missing? They are high compared to a month ago, but they are low compared to what major online dealers are selling them for. The demand for junk silver is as high as I have ever seen, so the prices have gone crazy.

Prices are crazy for actual physical silver right now.
I understand people that don't buy right now but I try consistently but and figure it will even out over timr

It's my understanding that paper contracts for silver are waaayyy higher than the actual silver that's available...hence the incredible increase. My Hubby is the junk silver guy. He has bought quite a bit, over time, so that he has quite a stash now, safely secured. He just made a very good trade on silver rounds to ASE's. Ofcourse, I spent hours going through his junk silver to see what surprises there may or may not be - Numismatically. I can always hope! I'll stick with my large cent additions and straight bullion "coins" for now until this all passes. It's much like what happened in 2009 and other years. It may take a while but, this too will pass - like other times. Once it gets profitable to mine silver again, then maybe this "shortage" will ease up. I have to stay optimistic to survive the metals markets right now.

Yes if silver drops to $20 then the coins I am buying now will lose 20% of their value
At the same time the ones I bought at $15 will still be worth 33% more than I paid
I'd like to keep the 2 rolls a week pace for the balance of the year but we will see how it goes

Thanks, CoinHunter! Snagged the ducat for $236 including buyers premium, while melt value for it is $220. That's quite a haul of silver you picked up!

They are high compared to a month ago, but they are low compared to what major online dealers are selling them for. The demand for junk silver is as high as I have ever seen, so the prices have gone crazy. I agree they seem really high. I bought an Unc roll on 4/5 for $198. Guess I got a great deal.

The ducat arrived today, and it is far finer than the auction pics suggest. The two rolls of War Nickels were exactly that. And this 1812 20 franc Nappy arrived, too - just 15% over melt after buyer's premium. I'm happy!
