Found this while looking through a roll, appears thinner than normal.Others in the roll weighed 4.4g on this scale. Thin 25cent planchet,or foreign?Where can I find more info? TIA "Dipping" is not considered cleaning... -from PCGS website

DBM, I really dont think .03 of a gram is dramatic enough to think foreign planchet.
It could just be that when struck a tiny piece of the blank was removed more than the others ....

That would make it about .3 grams underweight not .03 grams. I would think that weight differential would be close to outside of normal tolerances but I don't know the normal tolerance ranges for canadian coins.

I guess it depends on what the Weight Tolerances are for steel quarter planchets. A planchet that is 4.1 grams (0.3 grams underweight, Charlton gives 4.4 grams as normal) is 6.8% lighter than others measured. However, the scale is only precise to 0.1 gram, so the light quarter could in fact be more like 4.15 grams and the others closer to 4.35 grams (a difference of 4.5%). Anyone have an idea of the tolerance?

Interesting. Canada made planchets for US 5c and $1 coins?

Does it appear to have the normal plating? Could it have just the one layer of nickel plating as opposed to the three layer nickel-copper-nickel plating?

Appears normal in every respect, except that it has "flow lines" on the obverse from letters and crown, extending to the rim.Similar to the lines found on many Volunteer dimes.Sorry I can't get a good photo of these lines at the moment.
