Is this the type of 1856 ?

Is the type of 1856 commoner or rarer than the the other type ?

That's a nice coin, but judging from the style of the legends, it's a regular 1857.

The rectangular interior shape of the "O" in "OF" and the flared serifs are diagnostic for the 1856 obverse type.

Rick Snow has probably written the definitive books on Flying Eagle and Indian Head cent varieties. I have a few, and I have found them very useful.

There are a whole bunch of books, but there is no one book or site that shows everything, there is just too much.
