DO NOT wish to change the OP'S topic, however, IF people here could either buy another American Buffalo Reverse Proof ( figuring you first bought one ), or would you buy the lower mintage American gold proof coin, to make the set? Thanking you all in advance, Mike.....Would enjoy seeing the overall opinions of this Family!

Morgan: between the two I would go with the RP assuming the mintage doesn't get out of control. Even with a higher mintage is it a special coin and traditionally the other RPs have done well.

Collectors are going to want the '13 American Buffalo proof SET. If the RP sells between 52-55K, 20K of the regular proof will be extremely low if some collectors decide later to add the regular proof to the RP. The risk is ANOTHER RP for the 10th Anniversary of the Buffalo coin in 2016, it's not a guarantee that that's the special coin or even that it'll be commemorated with a special coin, set or whatever, but the '13 RP is a no brainer winner for this year that'll help push the regular proof sales and will ended up spiking both coins in price like the '08 American buffalo proofs especially the fractionals. It would be cool if they brought back the fractionals just for '16, and NOT offer a RP and keep this year's coin a singleton like the UHR double eagle. That coin sold 115K and its way above issue and spot price, btw. The RP should should follow the same trend as the UHR.

I purchased two of the RP and one proof, I'm thinking about going back for another 13 proof I'm looking to hold more than flip but ultimately if the price is right I'd sell a set down the road. Bizybackson in his reply, helped me make up my mind I was on the fence over getting a second Buffalo proof or an 13 AGE (have not looked at recent sales number it's also low mintage I thought) but as Bizybackson said Quote: Collectors are going to want the '13 American Buffalo proof SET Not sure if this is the best play in the book (could be subject to change) but with the RP out of the way it gives me time to decide between a second proof or an AGE. If I can squeeze up enough juice maybe get the AGE also so I will have all three 2013.

I think it's 30 days from official release, but who knows when the first coin actually shipped... It's probably best to contact PCGS and/or NGC directly than having to rely on second hand pieces of information.
The current sales total stands at 42,795 by the way. There weren't many coins sold since Fri (1,991 to be precise). This means the final total will most likely be below 50k.

They had the coins at the Chicago show so I guess that would be the start of the 30 days. I bought my coin on the first day and it still has not shipped. I would guess I have no chance at that (but I don't mind since mine will stay in OGP).

Things to just think about...... I read ALL about the ANA coin show, Which took place "AFTER" the Mints site began taking orders for the 2013 American Buffalo Reverse Proof coin. I also read that the " Mint Director" ordered that 1000 coins were to be brought to the show and placed up for sale. The show's demand for the coins was anticipated to be strong, so the Mint placed a " limit " on the number of coins per person, (5) Which all sounded on the up and up, Except for a couple of facts. 1- being the article went on to say the majority of the 1000 coins were picked up by 3 main coin dealers, which got me thinking about how was this done, I knew there was a limit in place for all to be fair, Right... I continued to read and found out more information that also led to frustration, I read that the coins sold out, to a line that was there at the Mint's booth hours before they opened, ..... 2- The " Mint Director " was so pleased with the show's sell out performance he ordered another 1000 coins for the show's next day...... 3- I write this because like many others I ordered my coin(s) on line, many days earlier than that show took place and I STILL do NOT have my coins... I am not implying that these 2000 coins would of gone out to people who were actually entitled to them, being they were ordered before the doors of that show were ever opened... I am not saying that While many others like me still wait for the delivery of our ordered coins that those coins might of been spoken for, BEFORE the director made these decisions, or MAYBE I am......Does anyone think " the director " thought all was on the up and up, not having a clue that Major Coin Dealers were paying people to buy them coins!!!! I am really discouraged at the ebay auctions that list all the hype over the first struck coins that major dealers PAID people to stand in line at the cost of mentioned premiums of $100.00 per coin, once handed over to the dealers. I am also frustrated that those dealers are claiming that "the special" coins they have are up for auction for about $4,000.00 per coin, with " the directors " signature on the COA'S. I really thought that after the last few nightmares that the mint had,... things like this would not of been even thought about. I do not know for sure about much that branch of the Gov really does except that people really deserve better for being patient, loyal customers. I am really disappointed at this entire fiasco that has unfolded and has me thinking about just what am I caught up in, why are things like this common practice for the mint, even more so, what am I doing, Do I really think things will change? Do you?

Quote: .Does anyone think " the director " thought all was on the up and up, not having a clue that Major Coin Dealers were paying people to buy them coins!! I dont think they care. They probably sold more to the dealers off the bat than just 1 anyway. As long as they get their sales theyll be happy. If anything leaving people wanting at the show probably drove sales some as they would go home and order it.

To me, I think its an absolute beautiful thing in regards to how the market is pricing the different labels and offerings with this coin.
It just shows that markets work, they establish market prices and assign values to these coins.
In the end, this coin will be a hit.

I just checked the stats and the RP coin has sold 42,795 units. So, unless something crazy happens, we're looking sub-45k on the total mintage. My cotton pickin' trigger finger is beginning to act up!

I'm making you guys money by only buying one. If I went with more it would be a flop. I hope those that bought a few do well. Can't wait to see the actual coin.
