Well it wasn't U.S. so IDK if it counts in this thread but my oldest found in pocket change was a 1913 Canadian penny. . Your V nickel is in great shape I agree with wilhelm41 that is probably got reintroduced fairly recent.

My oldest is two 1891 Indian Head cents, last year from the same register. I wonder if someone's collection was cashed in, or something.

When I was about 14 I found a 1909-P Lincoln Cent in AU in change from the grocery store - I promptly lost it When I was again 14 I found an XF Canadian half dollar from the 1950's in a cedar bush next to the steps at our church. I don't know why I even looked there, except that I was probably antsy from having sat through some dull sermon. Does finding a coin in a bush count as being in circulation? Two years ago I found a 1935-P Buffalo nickel while cashing out my employer's Pepsi machine, a nice VF coin. Not much lately though, just a 1943-P War Nickel while looking through some rolls.

The oldest I have found in circulation was a 1911 Lincoln Cent. However, about 2 years ago, I was standing in the driveway at my friends house and looked at a spot of bare sand with no grass. A coin was sitting in the middle of the bare spot. I picked it up and it was an 1885 Indian Head cent in about VF condition and not corroded. I gave it to my friend....

I found 3 Morgans at the bank one day: 1880, 1888, and 1896. Oh and a really nice 1899-O Barber quarter.
