Oldephriam Valued Member United States 424 Posts	Posted 12/28/2015 9:56 pm The 1970-S Jefferson nickel has an uncirculated version and a proof version. If the original luster is worn then it can be very hard to tell the difference. The rim and the areas around the lettering can be clues. If you are not confident in your coin knowledge the a quick trip to your LCS can be beneficial, most dealers love the chance to educate collectors. Another consideration; the 1970-S Jefferson proof is a $2.00 coin on a good day and only if it is in pristine condition. There are niche collectors that love finding circulated proof coins, but I don't think any of them would pay much more than face value for one of these coins. Report this Post to the Staff
