I agee that would have been a much better coin for the obverse but I like the Eagle landing on the moon reverse.

Nice recap on your attempts to have acceptance of a dollar coin.

I swear I just saw something like this somewhere... Anyways, I concur that it would've been a much better design.

Looks like the artist was trying to mimic the liberty cap Half Cents and large cents from the 1790s. I like the design, but I personally think that it is a little too busy.

Interesting. I never knew there was another option.
I do not like the first obverse and reverse photos. It may just be the way it was rendered, but I think the coin looks really bad. The concept does get more appealing when looking further down the page, especially at the medals.

I like the Liberty cap, but as long as the paper dollar is being produced, a dollar coin will not circulate in thee US.

First of all, I haven't seen the new issue, but I really like the Liberty Design and always have since it was first revealed. COW: Quote: I swear I just saw something like this somewhere... I saw this design or something very close in John Mercanti's recent book on the Silver Eagles. I think it was in his bio of Frank Gasparro who very much liked the liberty design but was overruled in favor of the SBA and its connection to the women's rights movement.

Ukk! Sorry guys (and gals!), but Scary Hairy Mary looks like a 1793 cent that had a bit too much of the gin. The eagle looks like it's wings are broken and it's going in for a crash landing.
I can't see that this would have been better option to the Anthony, which was pretty ooogly too. But it doesn't really matter. No matter what the design would have been we'd still have a few billion of the stupid things sitting in some massive vault somewhere because we can't give up the Seigniorage.

Quote: because we can't give up the Seigniorage. Well, yeah, I guess there's always that. In the "real" world it would be like trying to abolish Black Friday shopping sprees.

A LOT better coin. She looks like she's in awe though, almost constipated....

There are two points I'd like to add. First, what we see probably isn't the final design, the one that would be on the hub. Second, ever since the mint went CAD [computer aided design], we're getting face designs with too much expressionism, e.g., SBA obverse and Washington's spaghetti hair. In the analog days we got details that were more impressionistic. Sort of like analog vinyl records vs. CD's in music. Maybe I'm using the wrong analogies, but do you get what I'm saying?

I'm with moxking--it's too busy. Of course the SBA was pretty dismal in its own right.

I think this would have been a waaaay better coin than the Susan B. Anthony. Just my opinion though.
