Obverse has a strange toning on it, darker than the reverse, and with a textile or cloth pattern of some kind. Reverse has much better luster. Grandma's "collection", now in my care: this coin, 3 or 4 40% halves, some circulated Washingtons and Roosevelt dimes, a few Mercs...18 Morgan dollars, and 12 Peace dollars. Mostly things her husband saved -- he ran a body shop, for many years, and they loved to travel to Reno back when the Casinos still used silver dollars. 30s-40s. TTcoins Valued Member United States 51 Posts	Posted 01/23/2016 3:58 pm I'll go with AU-53 for this coin. I don't believe it has retained enough luster to be graded in the upper AU range, and I can clearly see minor wear on the shield of the reverse. Report this Post to the Staff
