Hello guys!Very nice adds everyone.Cableguy,i like that eagle on the reverse, simply beautiful and better looking than the usual Saxony c.o.a.I suppose this was a vicariate issue?! Also the less preserved crowns are more than welcomed. These coins have definitely seen a lot more history than a MS piece! Pacificoin As a result of this interesting discovery I've decided to give it a go and after checking around 120 pieces of the type, available for sale on the internet, I bought one that looks like the overdate variant. The pictures aren't that great but I'm sure are good enough for a few thoughts!

Hi Paul - yes you are correct, that is a vicariate issue. I looked over your pics and it is hard to tell. In the last picture it looks like there is something there - you can almost see the 1 underneath the two. However, in your other pictures there is no evidence of the 1. In Pacificoin's example the base of the one clearly sticks out from below the base of the 2 and the top of the one also sticks out above the head of the two. Also, "the nose" of the one sticks out a bit before the beginning of the two. I unfortunately do not see that in your example. Take a look at the original listing's picture on ebay and you'll see what I mean. Both Pacificoin's example and the other example on ebay as well as the ones I found in the archives match this style of over date. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Germany-19...6u:rk:2:pf:0https://www.ebay.com/itm/Germany-We...E7:rk:1:pf:0

cableguy815 I've seen that piece and the overdate is very obvious. In my case I really believe the overdate is less noticeable but just to be 100% I will send it to PCGS at the begining of february.

OK. Good luck! It'd be very cool to "unearth" another one of these overdates.

1648 Munster Medallic taler issued by the Munster bishopric to celebrate the signing of part of the Peace of Westphalia in Munster in 1648, ending the Thirty Years War. Olive branch above the city on obverse. Reverse has three doves with olive branches flying above a crown and scepter. Medalist is Ketteler, diameter is 41 mm. One of two variations identified under KM #48 in Munster's Taler listings in "Krause's German Coins 1501-Present". PCGS AU-50

Very interesting Paul... that zoomed pic very clearly indicates a one underneath the two, although the style is a bit different than the overdate in Pacficoins example. Congrates on the find!
WCG - nice medallic thaler! This one is KM47.

Nice "fatman" Pepa. Looks very lustrous.
Zohar - that's a beautiful medal. Do share some details about it - I have no idea what it is.
Finally, a couple of my unicorns arrived today. Stay tuned for pictures.
