While getting some 20s from the hole in the wall I grabbed some $1, 50c and a few $2. Always nice to get 1 or 2 NCLTs. First time I've had a Kiwi 50c in a 50c roll. At least I can feed the Kiwi 20c through the vending machines but I suspect they won't accept the Kiwi 50.

Nice score with those NCLT dollars. There's plenty of those QANTAS coins around now isn't there. I once found a kiwi cupro-nickel halfcrown in a 50 cent roll.

I see the QANTAS coins are staring to turn up over there. Not seen any here in circulation.

Quote: The seller described it as AU and its a hazy photo I don't want to be an alarmist but I'm always wary of a seller who doesn't provide clear photos so I'd be checking it very closely when you have it in hand, especially when copies of this coin are known to be offered on sites such as AliExpress. https://pt.aliexpress.com/item/1005...wayAdatmp=noTo my eye George's moustache and goatee don't seem quite right but hopefully it's just due to lighting. Another observation is that the bust appears a little more pointed and closer than usual to the 'O' in George?

Quote: The seller described it as AU and its a hazy photo Glad to say you are wrong. A better photo of it. Weight 11.28 grams which is right for a coin in gVF/EF condition, has the silver sound, right colour and right milling. Location of bust and O identical to all my other KGV Florins except the Melbourne one of course. Size and feel are right. If anything I only got cheated knowing its far from AU, but it would make EF on a bad day. The coin has a natural light "Ray lustre" as well. Definitely also has the patina of age and the usual weakish strike of 1931 coins (The first Florin since 1928). That Chinese copy was quite convincing, amazed they would fake a common date like 1931, which like 1936 is the only really common date of the KGV florin series (Excusing Canberras), I thought they would more likely fake the 1932 coins. I am convinced its real.

I guess wear and lighting can be deceptive at times ... but also sometimes I think that I just look too hard! https://onlinecoin.club/Coins/Count...Florin_1931/https://www.allcoinvalues.com/austr...n-value.html

Well that's twice now, I am sure it was you who suggested my Melbourne Florin was a fake as well?
I would never consciously buy a Chinese fake. I think the fact its high VF rather than UNC made it also look dodgy in a blurry sellers photo.
Its a funny coin though, the shield is quite worn yet if you look at the roo and emu, there is only very light overall wear and George looks worn, but up close all sets of the pearls are visible. There is no obvious flattening anywhere on the King's portrait just light wear and rubbing.
Basically it has a VF appearance, but up close up this is an EF coin. I mean my gVF and VF+ 1934 and 1936 look shinier with higher rims, but they are more worn details wise.

Nice florin Princetane, would agree it is an EF condition coin. All the jewels in the crown visible and although dull still has a nice cartwheel effec5.
:) must be that you have ability to take photos that make coins look fake. However don't have any doubt in pickup of a beautiful coin, I do wonder if you seen or bought any of the contemporary #cough Chinese fakes or any other interesting copies.
I don't think coaster was trying rubbish your coins or doubt your abilities, just to be wary of the fakes coming on to the market.
Do note Princetane this is for noodled coins. Still I do enjoy your share of your latest adds :)

I did not think he did, but everyone must know by now my camera is a homebrand cellphone from 2017, so the quality is poor and my 1974 house has very few plugs, so putting the scanner on involves me turning off the phone. Not that I don't enough you share your lastest adds :) This is an EXCELLENT point, myself and a few others have shown old coins in the thread and I agree, this is for people finding coins in modern change or at least NCLT stuff and buy ins. I think we need to set up a "Show us your latest Australian and NZ/Pacific acquisitions thread" and next time I buy a pre decimal coin, will start one up. They have them for the US, Canada, UK and World threads so why not us?

Nice, a 2022 already.
I think my most recent interesting find was a 2021 K $1.
