Hi community,
Found this in some change not in the best condition but what am I seeing on the reverse? All the letters in Monticello Five Cents are thick and you can plainly see doubling on a few. Thanks for your time.

What you are seeing is a combination of Machine Doubling and Die Deterioration Doubling. The Machine Doubling (MD) is what causes the secondary shelf like doubling, and the Die Deterioration Doubling ( DDD) causes the expansion of the devices. Neither, even though they have doubling in there name, are actual forms of die doubling. MD affects likely 80% of coins in one form or another and DDD a large %age as well.
