Nice find on the 1897 V!!!

I tried the vinegar for 24 hours but made very little progress on that coin

You need to, at the vert least, give a Buffalo 72 hours in a vinegar bath... a 24 hour bath will only help coins which already have a partial date showing... in some cases, it will take a week or even two weeks to reveal a date...
CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years! Have found FOUR complete Jefferson sets!

Thanks John77 do you partially freeze the vinegar and use only the frozen slush or just use it at room temperature?

poundfoolish I was delighted to see that coin in that roll yeah buddy!

So far the first 3,000 nickels have been treating me well. I still have 7,000 left to search this week. Work has been busy and being back in the gym building muscle has me going to bed earlier and earlier each night.

Just found this 1935. The mint mark has damage. I'm thinking D, what's your guess?

Another 10,000 nickels is in the books. I don't even know where to begin to describe this hunt other than with Wow! What a batch! 133 Jefferson nickels from 1938-1959 for an average of 26.6 nickels per box. 5 silver War Nickels, 5 Buffalo nickels including a 1935-S, and a Liberty V nickel that was dated 1897. Holy schnikes! This now brings my grand total to 120,000 nickels searched. Below are the totals.

Has anyone on the forum kept similar data or a spreadsheet in regards to wheat cents? I had went through 980,000 about a decade ago and I wish I would have kept track of my finds. I'd be curious to see someone's chart or data if they have anything or know where I could find it on the internet.

Incredible finds in those last 10,000. I hope to get through 10000 or more this week too if the coin counter doesn't jam up on me and put the search on hold....
