Well this was another fun hunt. I found another 1938-D as well. Still have not found another 1948-S in 130,000 nickels. I also found 3 Buffalo nickels, two dateless and a 1927-P that I needed. Bonus, I found a 1940-P Wheat cent and a 2017-S impaired proof. Two silver War Nickels, 1943-P and 1945-P. I have another 10,000 on order for next week.

2017-S and the 1940-P Wheat cent that found it's way into a roll of nickels.

Great finds! Just out of curiosity, do they charge you for ordering boxes?

Fortunately I work at the bank where I get these boxes so they do not charge. For customers I believe they do not charge for it either.

Just out of curiosity, did you start coin roll hunting after you started at the bank, or did you get a job at the bank to get access to more boxes?

Haha that is funny All seasons. I had always went through my change as a kid and saved wheat cents or old coins. When I started there, initially as a teller, my boss at the time suggested that I just buy a box of pennies to go through them. It had never occurred to me that I could just buy a box of pennies.

I wound up going through 392 boxes of pennies or 980,000 before I waved my flag of defeat in my attempt to complete the 1909-1958 Wheat cent collection. I found all of them except for 14 pennies.

Later on in 2015 the local coin shop suggested that if I am that serious about coin roll hunting that I should focus on nickels. I went through 8,000 nickel in the early part of 2015 to begin the 1938-1961 Jefferson nickel set. No joke, I found a 1950-D in my first box. I had no appreciation for what I had found and figured I could complete the set easily. I sure was mistaken about that.

It was not until this year that I decided to pickup where I left off. I bought a couple of boxes of pennies and after being very disappointed in the results, I thought why not pick up where I left off on nickels. Several minutes later I am 132,000 nickels searched for this year with another 8,000 remaining for this week.

Another great hunt is in the books bringing the total number of nickels searched to 140,000 nickels.

This was a tough week, I wound up going through the remaining 7,000 last night and today. I watched the Harry Potter series of movies with my wife this week for the first time. Pretty cool series of movies.

Finally after 136,025 nickels I found a 1948-S for the second book. This is the first one that I have found in 140,000 nickels. Also found a 1936-S buffalo and a 1907 Liberty nickel. I'll post the totals and pics here shortly.
