I assume others that have pieces of a letter missing like the tail end of an R or bottom of a T would also be PMD?

Yes, post-strike damage...'pushed' metal. Possibly caused by an 'old school' rotary vending machine--insert coin, turn handle.

It all depends on the coins. Might be PMD,might be over polished die or a Grease Filled Die.
