I recently bought 3 rolls of Brilliant Uncirculated 1947-S Jefferson nickel Rolls. I have looked into the listings, both on Wexlers and Brian's websites, on the amount of double dies listed for obverse and reverse, and there's NOT many listed.
Some of the RPM varieties mentioned that a few of the RPM's are associated with a Master Die doubling on the obverse of the 1947S coins.
Now on to the question.... Is it so common to find so many RPM's and Master Die Doubling in 3 rolls of 1947-S Jefferson nickels?
Thanks in advance on your responses.
P.S. Not ready to share photographs yet. TY

Best to start with some pics, otherwise we're flying blind.

I don't know - you didn't tell us how many you found!

All 1947 nickels manifest certain doubling inherited from the master hub. That is true of all three mints. The doubling is most visible on the T and S of Trust, and certain letters of Liberty.

I suppose we must wait for photos and specific questions.

Here are some close-ups of the master hub doubling on a 1949 nickel:

Thanks to all who replied. I'll see about photographing what I'm seeing and talking about. I can't give the total number that I've found because I haven't finished examining all 3 rolls.
I read the comment mentioning the (sherifs) on the T and S.
That's not the primary reason for asking my question because it's more than that appearing on these 1947S Jefferson nickels.
It has been mentioned about the master die having issues in 1947. What kind of doubling classifications are the appropriate descriptions for coins that appear to have a master die problem with the coin? Machine,a true double die or something else?

There are classifications for Master Hub Doubling, Master Die Doubling, Series Doubling (for years and denominations where multiple masters were in use), Working Hub Doubling, and of course, Working Die Doubling which is commonly referred to as a "doubled die".

Machine Doubling, Die Deterioration Doubling, repunched mint marks, and true doubled dies are all separate types of doubling that have distinct causes. The first two are essentially worthless; the last two can add considerable value. It is quite common for vintage coins to exhibit two or more of these phenomena.

There is a very excellent article on the Wexler files website that explains the whole process of manufacturing the dies used to strike coins. I have re-read it many times, and I highly recommend it.
