I thought I would share this with you, pictures of my very best coin. This one is a Taler-sized silver coin and fairly hard to come by. A little dark, but very nice. If anyone feels inspired to suggest a grade it would be interesting to see your opinions.

Very nice piece. I would grade as VF-30 based on the image.

Very nice coin. Zohar444 is our Taler expert, but I think I'm going to grade a little higher and say EF-40.

Wow...that's very nice!
Can anyone tell me how these were struck? Portions of the obverse look double-struck...interesting!

WOW! These were usually really crudely struck (as well as struck multiple times). Yours looks great. I too would have to go EF on this one.

Thanks all, I can disclose that the Norwegian auction firm that sold this one declared it 01, a Norwegian grade that is akin to EF. A grade I myself agree with. It is in fact the best I have seen of this particular type, but that is not the whole story. Fredrik III was very vain and had a whole lot of different pictures engraved of himself. For those interested in a complete set of 1 Speciedaler Fredrik III there are XXIII (23!) different types minted in the period 1648-1669 and three of them have a total of eight official subvariations...giving 28 different coins to hunt for. My coin here is type III - one of the easiest, I must admit. Some of them are plain impossible.

I am late to the game on this thread, but I would have to agree with vanhis on the AU-50. Congrats on a wonderful piece!
