There were some nice pieces auctioned, 1909 Quarter Eagle AU for 200, 1827 CB half in VF+ for 80, and an orphaned 1851 Gold $1 in AU which had a reserve of 175 and no bids. A nice 1914-D Half eagle went for 370 in AU. 5% buyers fee. However, not once but three times, I observed lots being dropped on the floor by the auctioneers assisant. I visibly cringed each time, and I was sitting in the front so I coudn't see but I'll bet I wasn't the only one cringing! An old cardboard holder full of lincoln cents was held up for diplay, and cling one piece fell out. Yow! Anyone ever see this kind of mishandling? Regale us, you numismatic raconteurs..... I've never seen that but I've never been to a live coin auction. Were the coins "raw" going all the way to a hard surface? If they were in any type of holder it likely didn't do any damage but I'd want to see the coin before bidding again! ANA #R3154474 Report this Post to the Staff
