well I have been messing with settings on my camera again and figured I would ask opinions on these photos. The color looks pretty close to what they look like in hand

Could you let us know your camera setting, lighting setup, editing software, etc.? Thanks Bryan1315. These photos would be something I would strive to achieve.

its the same camera I have used for years it is a cheapo JVC GC-QX3HD and its 3.3 MP. I reset the White Balance and also turned on spot focus and turned on something that I have no idea what it is called, I thought it was a timer so I could push the button then remove my finger from the button and it take a picture a few seconds later to make the camera stable on the tripod, it did wait a second or two but it also sounds like it is taking about 10 pictures right after another. I think what made the biggest difference was using the tripod and having quite a bit more space between the coin and the camera for the light instead of trying to fill the viewer with the coin. The only other thing I can think of is I have the camera in macro mode

oh yeah the only editing I did was to crop the picture, no adjusting any other settings

Bryan...these shots all look very good. If you're happy with them, then what else can I say?

Personally, though, I would always use a white or black background rather than the taupe to get a truer color.

well I am not going to take them out of the album to take the picture. The color you see is the color of the Dansco page not some back drop I used to lay the coins on. The color is a nice representation of the color the coins actually are so I guess you can call this experiment a success
