Sorry cascade...I didn't see the D mint mark...nice pegger. Anyone own a 1971-P Peg Leg? I've NEVER found one...THE most elusive of all.

Darth

I was looking at ebay and found a "DEALER" (?) selling ESTATE stuff.

On individual lots the shipping was high ... so I contacted him about combined shipping.

I won 4 auctions and his combined shipping was down (about) $20.00, based on the 4 auction I won

Other bidders who only wanted (say) one auction lot was stuck with the high(er) cost of shipping. $7.99(?)

however there was one other (strong) bidder on all auctions ... I outbid him on the first auction. It may have confused him a little ... as the auctions were 3 minuets apart.

I got 2 auctions of (FOUR) mint sets at $9.99 1978 - 1977 - 1973 - 1974

Then the added real cost of those 2 auctions were $9.99 PLUS (APPROX) $3.00 ship

If the face was $15.28 I got it at APPROX $12.99 on those 2 auctions.

On the other two I bid a little more, to be sure I got the benefit of combined shipping on (4)? auctions

They will be here SAT? Will try to get a picture up ASAP

Just came across a nicely toned 73s clad proof ike with full obverse field coverage. Looks much better in hand as I have a tuff time photographing proof ikes, especially ones with color.

Might warrant a slab and a Todd Pollock axial job?...

Darth and Group.

Up date on the 16 MINT SETS I bought on ebay

... has not gone 100% as planed

... seller delivered 8 MINT SETS .. NOT 16 MINT SETS

... he was counting the Denver(s) and the Philly(s) as a FULL "SET"

... in the years 1973-1974-1977-1978 MINT SETS there are both (P) and (D) coins

... after 8 email contact to him and 8 back to me .. I when ahead and contacted ebay

... The ebay lady said I did the correct thing .. and I need to wait 3 days for him to respond to me.

... Then I need to give him 2 more days to settle it.

.... I successfully did get one half the correct order and ask for a "PARTIAL credit to PAYPAL in the amount of $27.99 ... which is one half of the amount I paid $55.98.

... I have bought (about) 80+ sets and proofs .. so I know what a "SET is.

... Not going to revel his ebay handle .. but he is doing the SAME sort of ads on other of his MANY MANY auctions

... yes I will ... as long as I am 100% within the rules of CCF

... Jbuck ... want your OK with this ... OK?

BTW ... he has gone silent ... I think he has until May 05 to get the matter settled

Additionally I want to be 100% sure that eBay-Paypal backs me up.

My ebay "OPEN CASE REP" was 99% sure I would prevail ... we shall see

BTW he sells a lot of items daily ... his numbers are in the 18,000 RANGE ... of which many are coins

If you have evidence of a thief or con on ebay, then you should certainly let us know.

Sorry to hear about this situation, Domain. I knew it sounded too good to be true. I'm sure it will work out in your favor. Can you let us know exactly how he described these sets in his auction?

Will wait to id his handle until I get a ebay resolution
This is one of the 8 back and forth Emails

Him to me:

Do you see the photos there should be 4 separate packs in each envelope. OK I am the person who packed this order. I do not know what to tell you. I sent exactly what is on and in the photos. There is a problem. if each set someone removed two sets from each. There is no way it was done On my end and if you're saying it was not done on your end than it has to be in the middle post office, I am a long long time honest ebay seller, my values are everything in life. So if partial is stolen than I or you can contact post office and put a claim in. His first name.

Me to him:

I bid and won 16 sets of coins, Each "MINT SET" has 12 (or) 13 coins. The Denver coins alone are NOT a SET. The Philadelphia coins alone are NOT A SET

"4 ESTATE VINTAGE 1973 DENVER & PHILADELPHIA MINT COIN SETS"

"4 ESTATE VINTAGE 1974 DENVER & PHILADELPHIA MINT COIN SETS"

"4 ESTATE VINTAGE 1977 DENVER & PHILADELPHIA MINT COIN SETS"

"4 ESTATE VINTAGE 1978 DENVER & PHILADELPHIA MINT COIN SETS"

-------------

The order came well packed (no packing slip) 100% tight sealed in a USPS SMALL FLAT RATE BOX.

I even sent this to him

-------------

This 1976 Uncirculated U.S. Mint coin set includes 12 coins:
2 Lincoln cents
2 Jefferson nickels
2 Roosevelt dimes
2 Washington quarter dollars
2 Kennedy half dollars
2 Eisenhower dollars
One of each denomination struck at the Philadelphia and Denver branches of the U.S. Mint respectively.

This 1974 Uncirculated U.S. Mint coin set includes 13 coins:
3 Lincoln cents: one of each struck at the Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco branches of the U.S. Mint.
2 Jefferson nickels
2 Roosevelt dimes
2 Washington quarter dollars
2 Kennedy half dollars
2 Eisenhower dollars

He has this one on auction now.

"4 ESTATE VINTAGE 1971 DENVER & PHILADELPHIA MINT COIN SETS"

201568123475
Seller assumes all responsibility for this listing.

Pictures showing 24 coins & Tokens (?) TOTAL for 4 1971 MINT COIN SETS

------------------

I do not collect 1971 mint sets, but I did research and found that 1971 mints sets come with both Denver & Philly coins

He currently has 5 other mint sets up for auction. But did not check them for accuracy.

... all in all .. it is no big deal ... regardless of what ebay does (or does not do) .. life is too short

... even if ebay fails to help ... Paypal MIGHT?

... but again ... no big deal
