A gold Ike...what an idea! But we already missed the 50th anniversary of the coin being made. But if we count 1970 as being the first year (since that was the first picture released f one to the public!), we are at 55 years. SOunds like a good time to celebrate! I wonder if we could get it rushed through congress?

Quote: wonder if we could get it rushed through congress? The only thing that rushes through congress is their own pay raises. If gold IKE coins were made, given their size, they would be hugely expensive. Like, three or more times the value of a double eagle. Perhaps that's the main reason the idea was never considered? And what would the nominal face value be? $100? That sure would be a tough add to the 7070.

Like, three or more times the value of a double eagle. Not that much. The Ike is 38 mm to their 34 mm. I am sure they could stretch the 33.4 grams out a bit, if not, the amount of additional gold needed is not that much. Quote: Perhaps that's the main reason the idea was never considered? I still think Morgan and Peace pushed it out of their minds. Quote:And what would the nominal face value be? $100? I like that, but I would take anything $20 and up.
