I recently searched my 700th box of dimes, totaling 1.75 million coins searched.
This milestone was met with a bang! In my 700th box, I found these two rolls, containing 34
Mercury dimes and 5 silver Roosevelts. There was a single clad 1981 dime, the rest of the clad were from the late 60s and early 70s.
The Mercuries included some late 1920s in VG-F, and a few AU coins from the 1930s-40s. Of course, many earlier dates were AG-G.
The breakdown was: 1923, 1926, 1927, 1929x2, 1935x2, 1936, 1937x2, 1939, 1940-D, 1941x5, 1942, 1942-D, 1943x3, 1943-Dx2, 1943-Sx2, 1944, 1944Sx2, 1945x2, 1945-D, 1945-S, 1946x2, 1947, 1950-Dx1, 1964-D.
My total rate of silver dimes per box is currently 1.86. Without hoards (25 silvers or more in a single box), it would be 1.17. I've found a total of 1,053 silver Roosevelts, 224 Mercuries, and 25 silver Canadian dimes. Still just two
Barber dimes, from last year.
A few months back I found my oldest Canadian dime, a well-worn 1909 (Edward VII). The raised dates wore away fast on early 20th century Canadian coins, so I was happy to see the numbers.
At this point I am not searching Brinks wrapped coins at all as my records show them to be almost totally unproductive. CWR are 80% of my coins, Titan (a local coin distributor) wrapped are the rest.
