First I have a complaint - ever sense I have found this site I haven't gotten anything done except fill the living room with all my boxes of coins and going through them. I thought I kicked drugs but this one keeps pulling me back. (Loving every minuet of it)

I think I have had this for about 20 years or so - found it in the bottom of an old shoe box that I haven't seen sense my last move - 20 years ago.

Left side of Obv. is worn down much more than the rest of the coin - could it be a week strike or do you think it is wear. I have very very very little knowledge of Three Cent pieces so any info would help.

How much (percentage wise) hair detail is left on this coin - more than half?

Sorry to hear about your 'boxes'

I would say about a third of the hair details remain.
Grade about F-12 on details.
Looks like it was severely cleaned.

Welcome to the forum Brent. I would say that your coin would grade at VG because of the tough cleaning you gave it as a kid I'm betting.Spit shine works on shoes but coin it don't. Just my 3 cents worth. Hehehehe
Rest in Peace

F-12 imo. What is going on with the last digit? It almost looks like an overdate.

The coin appears to be softly struck and technically might be a VF+. However, the coin has been cleaned pretty badly and has killed a lot of it numismatic value.

Thanks for the input - I am thinking I got this coin from an uncle or aunt and the coin is as I received it. I will prob keep this because I don't have any others.

About the date - It does look funny - I have looked at it many times now and sometimes I see a 6 in the 5 but then I look again and it looks like it was just mashed by something. I might just take it to the local coin shop (35 miles away local) and see if they have any input.

Here are 3 different angles of the date to see if you all see anything

Thanks again - I am learning - and that's good.

Peace
Brent
